The Spiritual Development Project, based at the National Society's RE Centre in London, was a three-year project to help primary schools explore the area of spiritual development in all aspects of school life. The project began by collecting together a group of teachers from around the country and from very different contexts. They worked together to develop their understanding of the spiritual dimension and how this could be applied to their work with pupils at Key Stages One and Two. Could spiritual development be defined? Is it something that "just happens"? Is it easier to find in schools with a religious foundation? This report records the process and outcomes of their work and offers materials to guide others wishing to find out more about spiritual development in the primary school.
