According to U.S. government statistics there are currently 11.6 million widows in our country.  They are in varying stages of grief.  Little has been written on specifics of how to adjust to the stage of widowhood.

In August, 1992, Dr. Jan Sheble became a widow overnight.  Her husband contracted an anaerobic bacterium and died within twenty-four hours.  Having experienced almost instantaneous grief and years of widowhood, she now provides helpful insight for widows everywhere—as she shares her own story and the story of other widows.
