We've spent the past 5 years touring the country and introducing the sound and message of Veritas to a vast audience. With Hope Survives, our intention is to deliver the same musical experience that our audience has come to expect, while truly focusing in on the heart behind the songs. We know that, in order for us to be able to truly deliver the message of a song to our audience, it must first speak to us.
This is what makes Hope Survives such a special album for us; it is our collective heart set to music.
The title track "Hope Survives" has been one of the key pieces in shaping this album. The energy of
the track, the collective group vocals that occur in the background throughout the entire song, and the message of hope during the darkest times, set the stage for the rest of the album. This message of hope is one that is recurring throughout the other songs as well. We really can't wait to release the
music video for this song. We believe it will give so much more weight to the meaning of this song.
Another stand-out for each of us is our cover of "Via Dolorosa". This is one of those songs that almost seems "untouchable" because it is one of Sandi Patty's most beloved songs. Prior to this recording, it has not been covered by any other artists. After spending the last year on the road with Sandi Patty's Forever Grateful Tour, we knew that this would be a beautiful way to say thank you to Sandi for the way she has been a champion for us and shared her stage with us. But even beyond that, the song itself fits so well within our repertoire, from the classical guitar to the dual-lingual lyrics. With an album based on hope, this one song definitely states wherein lies our hope.
The album was produced by Jay Rouse, who also wrote, arranged, and orchestrated many tracks on the album. Although we have been long-time fans of Jay, it was through the Forever Grateful tour that we began to develop a friendship with him. Jay has spent his career working with some of the most respected artists in the industry and was able to bring a wealth of musical knowledge and experience to this project. Not only has he worked on numerous studio projects, but as a touring musician himself, he understands the need for a song to work in a live setting as well as on a record.
Jay's arrangement of Great is Thy Faithfulness has been a crowd favorite ever since we began singing it. We knew that it absolutely had to be on this album. Not only is it one of the most beloved hymns, but the arrangement itself is just absolutely stunning and such a fun piece for us to sing.
