Just like the title of his brand new project, Clarence Fountain is truly Stepping Up & Stepping Out.

As one of the founding members and former leader of the legendary Blind Boys Of Alabama and five-time Grammy winner, Fountain has enjoyed a 70-year career in the music business. This album marksa new beginning for the legendary singer and the next chapter in a blessed Hall of Fame career. Joined by Sam Butler, who also lent his vocal talent to several Blind Boys of Alabama albums, Stepping Up & Stepping Out offers that classic sound reminiscent of Fountain’s extraordinary work with the Blind Boys of Alabama as evident on the Gospel track .

Clarence Fountain, Sam Butler and renowned producer Jim Tullio (Steve Goodman, Mavis Staples) inject a fresh take on Fountain's signature bluesy-gospel sound that is rich in traditional down-home Americana.

Other standout tracks include "Down To The River", "I Know Where I’m Going" and "Don’t Let The Devil Ride".

Stepping Up & Stepping Out also features special guest musician Donald Fagen of Steely Dan fame on "It's A Different World Now". As an added treat, Fagen lends his writing skills as the author of the project’s liner notes.

Canadian roots musician Colin Linden co-wrote "Between Darkness And The Light Of Day" and played acoustic guitar on the track.
