The Salvation Army is known throughout the country for their charitable work and for their peerless brass bands that appear on street corners during the holiday season. This recording was prepared by The International Staff Band, based in at The Salvation Army’s UK Headquarters in London and it exists to promote the highest standards of Salvation Army banding and, more importantly, to spread the message of the Christian Gospel by presenting the best in musical ministry. The Salvation Army is one of the largest, most diverse providers of social services in Canada. Founded in East London in 1865, The Salvation Army work in 111 countries worldwide. As a church and registered charity, they demonstrate their Christian principles through social welfare provision. Worldwide there are over 1.6 million members, with programs including homeless centres, drug rehabilitation centres, schools, hospitals and medical centres, as well as nearly 16,000 church and community centres. The work of The Salvation Army is funded through donations form its members, the general public and, where appropriate local authority and government grants. _Together_ provides an ideal mix of light pop and opera as well as a mix of seasonal favourites.
