Dr. Shane Davis and his family recently moved to Jackson, Wyoming after Shane resigned as Chief of the US Food and Drug Administration after a decade of service. He is trying to heal the wounds of his marriage and bring a sense of normalcy to their lives. But Washington, D.C. follows the Davis family to the wilds of nearby Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. A pharmaceutical company with a questionable reputation has gained Federal rights to bio-prospect microbes from geothermal pools in the area with a goal of developing drugs to cure cancer and other serious illnesses. Shane knows all about Rhoades Pharmaceutical because his young son was left nearly comatose from a clinical drug trial gone wrong, one developed and promoted by Rhoades and their lead scientist. Through strangely synchronous events, Shane meets a Franciscan Priest named Father Bennington who, not long ago, tried to bury himself in a rubble of sorrow because he watched the Church turn its back the poor people in his Mexican parish. Father Timothy meets a young boy named Kyle Cavanaugh who is fraught with advanced leukemia. Kyle's strength and determination in the face of death brings Father Tim's faith back to life. Together, Shane and Father Tim battle the odds against them when it seems that God's wrath is released in a wave of unusual sicknesses that plague the community and spread across the nation and to other pats of the world. Shane must discover secrets to the mysterious illnesses, ones that he learns are strangely linked to the Book of Revelation in the Bible. He discovers a sense of spiritual enlightenment that helps him to understand the true origins of the diseases. His ultimate act of forgiveness produces a remarkable result, one that has a direct impact on those he loves most when he discovers a mystical place that has the power to heal all nations.
